Graded Glass

Our graded glass for filtration is crushed, dried and screened into various sizes to achieve optimal filtration properties. This results in a lighter, cleaner filter media that lasts longer than traditional silica sand filter media. They are also less porous and therefore less likely to saturate itself.
Glass improves water clarity and allows for a reduction of back-wash times and quantity. Using glass may reduce chlorine and algaecide consumption. Glass stays clean in the filter and there is no algae formed in the filter. Since Glass is lighter (less dense) than sand, a smaller quantity is required to fill the filter. In many cases Glass has been known to remain effective up to 10 years compared to 2 to 3 years with sand.
